The $28 Bralette I Reach For More Than Any Real Bra
After years of underwire bras that left red marks by lunchtime, I started the slow, reluctant migration to bralettes. Most of them were either too flimsy to do anything or too structured to count as comfortable. Then I bought the Calvin Klein Modern Cotton bralette on a whim, and it quietly became the thing I reach for every single morning.
What It Is
The Modern Cotton bralette is an unlined, wireless, pull-on bralette made from a stretchy cotton-modal blend with a signature elastic underband. It has a racerback style and no padding, no hooks, and no wires. The fabric is soft, breathable, and—unlike most bralettes—it actually has enough structure to feel like you are wearing something.
My Experience
The first thing I noticed is how soft the cotton-modal fabric is. It feels more like a favorite t-shirt than underwear. The elastic underband gives just enough support for everyday wear without digging in, and the racerback stays put under everything from hoodies to button-downs. I have worn it on travel days, under sweaters, and for full days at my desk with zero irritation. It has also survived dozens of washes without losing its shape.
Honest Limitations
- Unlined and wireless means light support—fine for daily life, not for running or high-impact workouts.
- It runs slightly small; most people size up for a comfortable fit.
- There is no adjustable strap, so the fit is what it is out of the box.
Who It’s For
Anyone who wants a comfortable, breathable, no-fuss everyday bralette and doesn’t need serious support. It is especially good for smaller-to-medium cup sizes, lounging, travel, and layering.
The Verdict
At around $28, this is the best cost-per-wear item in my drawer. It is comfortable enough to forget you are wearing it and durable enough to last. I have already bought it in two more colors.
